2 of 6 providers usually onboard Pakistan residents.

Payoneer

Global payout / receiving account

Commonly used in Pakistan, but some local banks don't accept Payoneer withdrawals directly — check your bank.

Good for: Very broad country coverage (incl. Pakistan, India, Nigeria), receiving accounts, marketplace payouts.

Watch out: Local bank withdrawal can be clunky (some local banks don't recognise it); FX/withdrawal fees apply.

Usually worksVisit Payoneer

Airwallex

Global business account

Frequently recommended for Pakistan-resident LLC owners, especially USD→PKR transfers.

Good for: Strong multi-currency + FX, often cited as best for USD→local transfers, non-resident friendly.

Watch out: Onboarding requirements vary by entity/region; confirm your LLC + residency combination is supported.

Mercury

US business banking (BaaS)

Approvals inconsistent for Pakistan residents — some are onboarded, many are declined or later closed. Have a backup ready.

Good for: Free USD account, ACH + domestic wires, clean product, popular with founders.

Watch out: Publishes a prohibited-country list and closes accounts if founders reside there. Approvals can be revoked.

Limited / case-by-caseVisit Mercury

Relay

US business banking (BaaS)

Some Pakistani founders report success; eligibility is reviewed case-by-case.

Good for: 20 free checking accounts, good for organising taxes/expenses, non-resident friendly.

Watch out: Also maintains a restricted-country list; verify your residency is supported before applying.

Limited / case-by-caseVisit Relay

Brex

US corporate cash + card

Realistically not workable for a small Pakistan-resident freelance LLC.

Good for: Corporate cards + cash management, strong for venture-backed or higher-spend businesses.

Watch out: Not ideal for small single-member freelance LLCs; onboarding favours funded companies.

Wise Business

Global multi-currency account

Wise scaled back service for Pakistan; USD business features are generally not available to Pakistan residents.

Good for: Real mid-market exchange rate, multi-currency, transparent fees, widely trusted.

Watch out: Business onboarding and USD account features are not available in every country; some residencies are blocked.

Provider policies for non-US residents change frequently and every application is decided case-by-case. This is a community + provider-docs research summary (2026), not a guarantee or an endorsement. Always confirm eligibility on the provider's own website before applying, and keep a backup option ready.

How Non-Residents Actually Get US LLC Banking

A US LLC and an EIN are only half the setup — without a working USD account you can't get paid cleanly or keep clean books. The good news: you do not need to be in the US or have an SSN. The catch: each provider maintains its own list of supported and prohibited countries, and those lists change without notice.

1. What providers verify

Passport (identity), your LLC's Articles of Organization, and your EIN from the IRS. No SSN or ITIN is required for the fintech providers above. Some ask for a US business address — a registered-agent or virtual address usually satisfies this.

2. Bank vs receiving account

Mercury and Relay are closest to a real US business bank (ACH, wires, cards). Wise and Airwallex are multi-currency global accounts with great FX. Payoneer is a receiving/payout account — broad country coverage, but weaker as a primary operating account.

3. Always keep a backup

Non-resident approvals can be declined or later revoked. Open at least two accounts from different providers so a single closure doesn't cut off your income. Pairing a bank (Mercury/Relay) with a receiver (Payoneer/Wise) is a common, resilient setup.

4. Watch the FX spread

Getting paid in USD is only useful if you keep the value when converting home. Mid-market providers (Wise, Airwallex) typically beat card processors and traditional banks by 2–4% on conversion. Compare the true cost with our payment fee comparator.

Don't forget the tax filing that comes with the LLC

A funded foreign-owned US LLC almost always triggers an annual Form 5472 filing — miss it and the penalty starts at $25,000. Check your deadline and exposure with the Form 5472 penalty checker, and model your entity's state costs with the US LLC matrix.

NON-RESIDENT BANKING · FAQ

US LLC Banking for Non-Residents — FAQ

Can a non-US resident open a US business bank account without an SSN?
Yes. Fintech-backed business accounts like Mercury, Relay, Wise Business, Payoneer, and Airwallex onboard non-resident US LLC owners using your passport, your LLC's formation documents, and your EIN (obtained from the IRS without an SSN or ITIN). Traditional brick-and-mortar US banks usually require an in-person visit, so most non-residents use these fintech providers instead.
What is the best US bank account for a Pakistani LLC owner in 2026?
For Pakistan residents, Payoneer and Airwallex are the most reliably available (Airwallex is frequently recommended for USD-to-PKR transfers). Mercury and Relay sometimes approve Pakistani founders but do so case-by-case, and approvals can be revoked. Wise scaled back USD business features for Pakistan. Always apply with a backup option ready, because policies change often.
Why did Mercury reject or close my non-resident account?
Mercury publishes a prohibited-country list and cannot support accounts for founders residing in those countries (it recently added countries such as Nepal and closed existing accounts). Even outside that list, Mercury reviews non-resident applications for risk and may decline or later close accounts. If Mercury does not work for your residency, Relay, Payoneer, or Airwallex are common alternatives.
Do I need a US address or phone number to open the account?
You do not need to be a US resident, but some providers ask for a US business address (your registered-agent or a virtual address often works) and may request a phone number. Requirements differ per provider — check the provider's onboarding page for your specific country before applying.
Is Payoneer a bank account?
Not exactly. Payoneer is a receiving/payout account rather than a full US business bank. It is widely available (including Pakistan, India, and Nigeria) and is great for getting paid by international clients and marketplaces, but withdrawing to a local bank can be clunky and some local banks do not accept Payoneer directly. Many non-residents pair Payoneer with a fuller account like Mercury, Relay, or Airwallex.
